BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP
Referral Source. The group provides a primary source for referrals to one another’s services.
Marketing Events. It is less expensive for each member to mount marketing events/campaigns when the cost is shared by a group, for example, at senior shows sponsored by various senior oriented marketing groups.
Marketing Presentations. Sharing marketing ideas with a group of people seeking to penetrate our market as a group, that is, our efforts jointly benefit all or most of our members, for example, presentations to seniors sponsored by libraries, senior centers, area agencies on aging, etc. These presentations by the group to many people at one time are a major reason for being part of the group. Each member of the group is responsible for obtaining events for the group.
Education. These allow members to share information about each one’s businesses and other senior related activities that we may or may not be aware of. Information sharing is important for our professional growth and possibly expanding our individual marketing efforts. For example, at each meeting time is scheduled for a featured member to provide an extended presentation whereby we discuss the best ways that all members can provide referrals to that person’s business. This helps us understand the approach and value of each one’s business as well as serving the needs of seniors.
Energizing Support. The monthly meeting can put a little more pep into each member’s marketing efforts. Marketing is a challenging and draining effort of our personal resources. Having a support group helps propel each one of us forward.
Face Time. While the purpose of the group is not just to generate leads for each member’s business, attendance and hearing about each other’s businesses at the monthly meetings helps each member keep other members’ businesses in mind for referrals. Face-to-face meetings can do this better than just a phone call, e-mail, advertising, or other of our marketing efforts. This is not to discount those efforts, but to say that the monthly meeting is an additional way, in a multi-pronged marketing effort, that all of the members pursue with our limited resources of time, money, marketing activities, etc.
Joint Responsibility. The monthly meeting becomes a means to hold each member accountable for the success of the group. There is strength and power in numbers whereby synergy enables members to go beyond their individual efforts that each continues to engage in for marketing our individual businesses.
Diversity Contributions. Each member has an opportunity to contribute the gift that each member is in ways similar and different from one another. This diversity of people, businesses, and member marketing suggestions is also a benefit of membership.
